چکیده
Coffea arabica L. belongs to the Rubiaceae family, and genus is believed have a primary center of origin genetic variability in highlands southwestern Ethiopia. It vital beverage commodity across world valuable export product, ranking second international trade after petroleum. Ethiopia among top five major coffee-producing countries Africa’s leading producer. However, its full production capacity has not yet been exploited, research efforts reduce biotic abiotic factors through reproduction extremely limited. Hence, improvement different breeding methods essential overcome constraints production. Thus, objective this study review applied for traits Breeding depend on type source final objectives. The main objectives are production, resistance/tolerance diseases, cup quality. commonly selected intra-specific hybridization, germplasm enhancement, development improved varieties with wider adaptability. There also practice crossing parental lines certain desirable hybrid varieties. Accordingly, some promising success obtained. Forty-one coffee released so far. Because conventional time-consuming, integrating biotechnological techniques could an instrumental role rapid suitable changing climate.

Equine poisoning by coffee husk (Coffea arabica L.)
BACKGROUND In Brazil, coffee (Coffea arabica) husks are reused in several ways due to their abundance, including as stall bedding. However, field veterinarians have reported that horses become intoxicated after ingesting the coffee husks that are used as bedding. The objective of this study was to evaluate whether coffee husk consumption causes intoxication in horses. RESULTS Six horses fed c...
متن کاملStrategies to reconstruct 3D Coffea arabica L. plant structure
Accurate model of structural elements is necessary to model the foliage and fruit distributions in cultivated plants, both of them being key parameters for yield prediction. However, the level of details in architectural data collection could vary, simplifying the data collection when plants get older and because of the high time cost required. In the present study, we aimed at reconstructing a...
متن کاملEndophytic bacteria in Coffea arabica L.
Eighty-seven culturable endophytic bacterial isolates in 19 genera were obtained from coffee plants collected in Colombia (n = 67), Hawaii (n = 17), and Mexico (n = 3). Both Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria were isolated, with a greater percentage (68%) being Gram negative. Tissues yielding bacterial endophytes included adult plant leaves, various parts of the berry (e.g., crown, pulp, ...
متن کاملThe Impact of Climate Change on Indigenous Arabica Coffee (Coffea arabica): Predicting Future Trends and Identifying Priorities
Precise modelling of the influence of climate change on Arabica coffee is limited; there are no data available for indigenous populations of this species. In this study we model the present and future predicted distribution of indigenous Arabica, and identify priorities in order to facilitate appropriate decision making for conservation, monitoring and future research. Using distribution data w...
متن کاملGenetic Diversity of Arabica Coffee (Coffea arabica L.) in Nicaragua as Estimated by Simple Sequence Repeat Markers
Coffea arabica L. (arabica coffee), the only tetraploid species in the genus Coffea, represents the majority of the world's coffee production and has a significant contribution to Nicaragua's economy. The present paper was conducted to determine the genetic diversity of arabica coffee in Nicaragua for its conservation and breeding values. Twenty-six populations that represent eight varieties in...
